CSI on Clara Barton Apartment Project Which Receives 2016 GSA Design Award for Preservation

[08-12-2016] The Clara Barton Apartment and Office for Missing Soldiers is a time capsule of the office and home of the famed Civil War era nurse. Left untouched and forgotten for decades, the apartment was rediscovered in the 1980's by its current owner, the General Services Administration. After years of reasearch, the original walls, wall papers and finishes were meticulously preserved or replicated, lighting re-creating the original gas was created, and a comtemporary HVAC system was integrated into the space that was otherwise unchanged for a century. CSI provided QC and guidance on means and methods to perform various aspects of the work under Mill + Schnoering Architects and OLBN Design/Build contractors. The project received a GSA award for Preservation in 2016
